From the mischievous Cheshire Cat in Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (1865) to T.S. Eliot’s whimsical Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats (1939), felines have always sparked imagination. Folk art traditions often captured animals in bright, symbolic forms, and here cats are given a stage of color, pattern, and personality.
